Howdy readers! Happy Earth Day!!!!!!!!

This year to celebrate Earth Day, our 1st grader wanted to create a collage sheet with elements all about ways to help our beautiful home, Earth. She gets very excited when it’s time to celebrate and create!

So why should we talk to kids about Earth Day?

Sure it’s one more thing to do however, this one’s reeaallly important. Getting kids involved and having discussions about ways to save our planet’s resources can help them as they grow to become adults. Kids can develop a mindful sense about their actions. They can learn to become more responsible, caring and be inspired in ways we can’t even predict! Kids are amazing sponges and get excited about learning especially when we add a little fun to it.

Use the earth day collage as a starting point and inspiration. Use the elements to add to a drawing. Create a mobile. Repurpose an old t shirt to make a reusable bag. We learned how to do this with this wonderfully cool book that I keep going back to. Start a composting bin. This one’s aesthetically great for the home counter with a handle. To cut down on plastic bottles and microplastic consumption (from bottled water) we’ve used the same Zojirushi’s for over 15 years! There’s even one for the Hello Kitty lover.

In our home, it has taken time to have conversations and to put processes in place. And lots of fun projects! These are processes anyone can implement one step at a time. One important tip is to make sure you inject some fun into whatever you’re doing.

So download the Earth Day collage sheet at the bottom, print on some scrap and see what you create together (or at solo independent times).

We also created a great Earth Day infographic here for the family to read together.

What earth friendly ways are you inspired to start or are currently working on? Let us know.

Here’s to more reading and caring for our planet!
