My Art and Design Experience in Mamaroneck NY

Today I want to share our fabulous kids camp experience at the Made Art Studio in the town of Mamaroneck, NY.

Art is a subject very important to our family just as reading is. It gives us space and freedom to explore, play, create and can serve as an outlet for our expression of ideas and emotions.

About the studio

MADE stands for my art and design experience. It’s a beautiful, intimate and airy space that offers lessons for you to create that amazing piece you’ve been waiting to give birth to! Their offerings include lessons in pottery, canvas painting, mosaics, wet clay and private pottery wheel lessons as well as special workshops, adult nights and after school/ summer drop off programming. The great part is you don’t need to make reservations for small groups of 5 people or less.

Summer Art Camp

Over this summer 2024, the studio offers 10 weeks of summer art workshops for kids entering first grade and up. Workshop days are Monday through Thursday, 10am- 1pm. Some of the weekly themes include all about animals, once upon a time, nature camp, art olympics and there’s even a Swifties camp!

Recently, our 7 year old participated in the sweets and treats theme. Each day our daughter along with about 9 other kids had tons of fun working on a ceramic ice cream cup/ spoon, donut rings, a ring pop mosaic, a blow pop painting and lastly, an amazing ceramic birthday plate. My daughter learned a little about the paint /glaze process. How to paint several layers of paint as well as trace and sketching over canvas to transfer an image. Overall, our daughter said she really enjoyed the camp and would like to go back again!

Other deets

The camps are led by the studio manager, Courtney and her assistant and truly bring excitement and even focus for the campers. Kids are asked to bring a water bottle and a nut free snack which they eat inside the studio. The space is very clean, air conditioned and has a cozy pleasant environment. There are restrooms and sinks for the kids to wash and clean up. Campers are also given aprons to wear during their sessions. Ceramic items are baked in the kiln and returned to campers at the end of the camp session. Imperfections can arise after baking, (which happened to our birthday plate). If this happens, Courtney offers to fix the imperfections, rebake and arranges for you to pick up at a later date. For us this is okay because the town isn’t too far a trip.

Final Verdict

To sum up, MADE Art Studio is a TRULY fabulous place to bring the kids for camp as well as the entire family to create something special and create wonderful memories together. If you are in the NYC tristate area, consider a visit with the family. Only about an hour drive from lower Manhattan.

Please check out our pictures below of the space and of camp art! And please share your favorite places for summer art camp or for creating art together.

Until next time, here’s to more art and reading!
