Good night brain and Hello brain processes!!!
Lets grow and train our brains.
Firstly, I want to say how much I love this book.
Personally, reading about science and biology brings me utmost joy. And when I find a book that is Stem related, kid friendly and filled with fun illustrations, it feels like I hit a homerun.
Good Night To Your Fantastic Elastic Brain by JoAnn and Terrence Deak breaks down the brain; its components and what it does. In the bigger scheme, it also explains why your kiddos should actually go to sleep. Like kids let’s go to sleep and stop fighting bedtime!
As you take in the pages, you get a glimpse of what happens to your brain while sleeping.
Some of my favorite pages include…
“What happens if you don’t get enough sleep?”
“Your brain Energizes”
“Your Brain Takes A Bath”
“Your Brain Develops”
“Your Brain Remembers”
About 34 pages long, each page contains 1-5 sentences with cute illustrations (no worries nothing gory). One feature that stands out, is how specific vocabulary words and phrases are in different colors. This most definitely draws attention and can help your child gain additional vocabulary.
This book is not a 5 minute read. However, I find reading the book over 3 or 5 nights is a great way to split it up.
This book is perfect for the curious preschooler who’s always asking why questions. Or the 3rd grader who loves learning about the human body.
And most importantly, this book educates children thereby giving them the power to make healthy choices for themselves at a young age, in this case choosing more sleep!
Good Night To Your Elastic Fantastic Brain can be a great starter Stem book for preschoolers through 3rd /4 th grade, all without being overly brainy (lol sorry I had to get the pun in there!).
If you enjoy this book, be sure to check these out…..Cheers and here’s to more reading!
